Taxi runs across the centre
Take the fare, name New Street, Snow Hill, or Moor Street, and do not use a bus lane as a shortcut.

Taxi work is the short version of the same centre. An NPC gets in. You drive the drop. You get paid. There is no route number and no stop list, which is why it is the wrong tool for learning Moor Street versus New Street unless you say the station out loud yourself.
A run
Take the job, drive to the pickup, and drop the rider on the marker. The useful habit is naming the nearest rail station before you look at the marker: New Street, Snow Hill, or Moor Street. If you cannot name one, you are either in Hockley, out toward Aston, or lost between the three.
Stay on the left. Lights and bus lanes are where taxi runs turn into police runs. A bus lane is not a taxi shortcut. Skipping the light is how the wanted level starts. That chase is a different page.
Taxi versus the bus
| Taxi | Double-decker | |
|---|---|---|
| Task | One passenger, one drop | A numbered route and its stops |
| Landmark | Whatever the drop sits near | The stop the cab names |
| Failure | A missed pickup, or a wanted level | A skipped stop |
Use taxi to cross the centre once. Use route 33 when you want the stop names drilled in. Emergency calls are a third job: you are going to an incident, not a fare.
